Hair and makeup are always an important topic of conversation when preparing for a photoshoot. The majority of my clients choose to have their makeup applied by a professional at the studio. This is my preference because the professional artists that I collaborate with are trained on how to apply makeup for photography and many have wedding experience. This is key because they apply makeup for all skin tones and ages from the bride to grandma.
Having a professional apply your make-up is a luxurious experience. I love for my clients to look and feel their best before stepping in front of my camera. Perfect makeup and professionally styled hair are confidence builders. I like to schedule photoshoots on Fridays and Saturdays so that my clients can plan a date night or girls night out.
Of course, there are exceptions. When Abigail visited the studio for her consultation I took one look at her porcelain skin and dusting of freckles and asked how she felt about not wearing make-up for her session. She was surprised that I wanted to photograph her without makeup, but she acknowledged that she rarely wears any.
For the initial look of the day, Abigail went without makeup. When we switched sets to the field of flowers, we agreed that mascara and lipstick would be a nice addition for this image celebrating feminine beauty.
